Water/Dust Evaluation
Environmental Testing
EUROAMERICA provides an extensive range of Environmental Chambers, Shakers, Seners and DAS for testing against the elements.
Water IP Evaluation
This process consists of evaluating the water ingress protection rating of a device or enclosure in a controlled environment. The sample (device or enclosure) is exposed to water spray, jets, or immersion in order to evaluate its performance under specific water exposure conditions, and the obtained results permit to assign a product an IP rating that means the product's resistance to dust and water.
Automotive Water IP Testing
Water IP testing is highly important in the automotive industry because it helps to ensure that several components meet all required standards protected from water ingress preventing damages such as electrical shorts.
In the automotive industry most components tested by water IP evaluaton are listed:

-
Electrical Connectors
-
Seals and gaskets
-
Doors and Windows
-
Headlights and tailgates
-
Engine and transmission components
-
Underbody components

Aerospace:
In the aerospace industry this process has taken a more significant role recently because of the increasing use of lightweight materials, such as composite materils that permit to reduce fuel consumption and improve their performance. However, these materials can be more susceptible to water ingress than traditional materials, such as aluminum alloys. To prevent damages that affect significatively critical components and lead to engine stalling, loss of hydraulic power, and other safety hazards critical components are tested by water IP evaluation.
In the aerospace industry most components tested by water IP evaluaton are listed:

-
Electrical Connectors
-
Seals and gaskets
-
Doors and Windows
-
Headlights and tailgates
-
Engine and transmission components
-
Underbody components
-
Avionics systems
-
Hydraulic Systems

Dust IP Evaluation
Dust IP Evaluation is an important part of the product development process for automotive industry. By ensuring that products meet the required IP codes, manufacturers can help to prevent failures and improve the overall reliability and durability of their products. Some problems caused by dust include:

-
Abrasion
-
Clogging
-
Corrosion

Some specific examples of dust IP Evaluation in the automotive and aerospace industries include: •Air filters: these types of products are typically tested in order to confirm that they meet a specific IP code. This permits to know if the air filter is adequality protected from dust ingress. •Engine and transmission components: IP validation in engine and transmission components is of high importance because dust promotes early wear issues in these types of systems. •Electrical components: For electrical components, IP evaluation makes sure that all components are protected against dust particles, avoiding any abnormality in their functionality.
